ALONG THE WAY, JULIE COSGROVE REGIONAL ARTIST 10th Feb 2012 - 10th Mar 2012 - Gallery 2 Definitely Superior wishes to emphasize to the arts community-at-large an awareness of the diverse nature of artists and an appreciation of the contemporary arts in the region of Northwestern Ontario, and allow access by members and collectives to develop shows and art production as well as a place to exhibit. This month features the return of Julie Cosgrove [MA University of Calgary], in her first post-Masters solo exhibition in Thunder Bay, comprising of exciting new contemporary painting / multi-media works. Cosgrove’s work considers concepts of place, wilderness, geographies and cartographies, technologies, and processes. Her paintings develop from an external, technological experience of place as well as from an internal and poetic experience of space. She continues to explore and integrate these ideas. Cosgrove is a well recognized artist in the region for her powerful visual works. Julie will be featured at the new Esker Foundation Gallery in Calgary later this year and has shown nationally.
